Hough Hole Mill, Rainow

Taken in about 1905, this photograph shows Hough Hole mill at Rainow, which was built in 1803. The cotton spinning mill was whitewashed, gaining it the local nickname of "the white shop". It was demolished in the 1940s, and though some nearby terraced cottages remain, the mill has gone completely.
