As part of the Kerridge Ridge & Ingersley Vale Countryside and Heritage Project, a lot of work has been undertaken to explore and explain why this is a special part of the country. This documents section of the website holds all the major text that has been written about the project area and a copy of the historical map drawn by Kenning Illustration.

Historical study

Compiled by George Longden. 83 pages, 2.1MB. Includes tithe maps of the area's farms in 1848.

Local Character Study

Compiled by John Dyke and John Finlay. 50 pages, 3.5MB. Includes geological maps and a 3-dimensional relief representation of the area.

Ecological Appraisal

Compiled by Colin Hayes of Ecology-first. 30 pages, 1.3MB. Includes maps of local habitats and uncommon plant species. Photographs of some plants and butterflies found in the area can be found in the gallery.

KRIV State Aid Exemption Document

A document written to provide the European Commission with information on projects taking place on agricultural land in the KRIV project area to comply with State Aid regulations.

Cow Lane Mill Report

Cow Lane Mill had originated as a second-generation Arkwright type waterpowered cotton mill, which was converted to manufacture silk in about 1817. In the late 19th century it was in use as a bleachworks, and by 1907 it was disused.

KRIV Historical Map

This map shows the project area in detail and all historical points of interest. It is available to buy from Bollington Post Office, Bollington Discovery Centre or the KRIV volunteers. Downloading the map will take several minutes.

Final Evaluation of the KRIV Project

The project has appointed John Bowie to carry out an independant consultation on the overall delivery of the KRIV project over the past five years. The report is available for you to download and read. I hope it gives you a valuable insight into what has been a truely remarkable project and memorable experience for all those involved.
