Kerridge Ridge and Ingersley Vale

 welcome

The Kerridge Ridge and Ingersley Vale Countryside and Heritage Project is a community project that began in 1998. The aim of the project is to retain and restore industrial heritage features that are found in the local landscape.

On this site, you can find out all about the project, its aims and objectives and the plans for the future. We'll be letting you know why the project was created and, just as importantly, the things that it's not here to do.

White Nancy, on the north-eastern edge of Kerridge Hill, photographed in about 1925On the site now, you'll find lots of information and about the history of the area, and especially its mills and quarries. There's an impressive selection of historical photographs, for which we're very grateful to the Bollington Civic Society Photographic Archive.

The project has just launched the Volunteer Training Programme. The aim of the programme is to offer local people the opportunity to work in the countryside on environmental and conservation projects. There is a weekly task group that meet each Friday to help with a variety of conservation tasks. The Training Programme has been designed with a wide variety of rural skills and information courses. Not all courses require physical exertion. Please take a look at the Programme and I look forward to working with you on a Friday task day or welcoming you to one of the Training Courses.

For up to date information about the project and volunteer tasks, please view the News or Volunteer Training pages.
